#ProductReview - MyBruneiStore's Self Adhesive Bra (Sponsored Post)

Two weeks ago, #tomoson & MyBruneiStore let me review this self adhesive bra - You know the one that ALL the Craze.

Although, this post is sponsored, all words and opinions expressed below are 100% my own.

Well, I have mixed feelings.
First off I'm a small boob chick (B-cup) and while it did cover the girls and the nips.... It didn't really provide any support or make a difference. I think its great for very thin or exposed garments that make wearing a regular bra unsightly or inappropriate. Even with the strings, I struggled to make any semblance of cleavage. Based on my experience, I think these guys are better suited for those with a fuller chest.

As far as the material and its ability to stick: I'll give it to them that it's definitely soft and comfortable to wear with little irritation. The silicone sticky gel is Strong & Sticky (check the video). I have sensitive skin and the bra was comfortable and easy to wear for a few hours (probably longer, if you don't sweat much.

The bra is quite inexpensive and arrived within 5 business days and was shipped very, very economically. Not in a box but in one of those small white postal/parcel packages with some bubble wrap on the sides.

IMO, its probably worth it simply to avoid bra lines and to cover your nips. If you are looking for help in the cleavage or support department, this are NOT the bra for you.

Below is a Video of the actual bra and the site.

#ProductReview - Game Face Grooming (Sponsored Post)

This post is "Powered by BrandBacker" and sponsored by Game Face Grooming, however all words and views expressed here are 100% my own.

Ever been in the need for a quick wipe of the face, felt the heat, sweat and grime building layer by layer from walking around the neighborhood? Well, Game Face Grooming, thinks they have the product for you! Their Cleansing Facial "Refresh & Rejuvenate" Wipes - wipe away dirt, grime, and sweat while also hydrating the skin. And.....
All products are:
Paraben Free
Hypoallergenic
98% Natural
100% Biodegradable (TENCEL)
Dermatologist Tested
Made In The USA!"
Everything on the package.....Made in the USA!!

#GameFaceGrooming offers a variety of grooming products, primarily geared towards men, but encourage women to give them a try. Which I definitely put to the test, In fact, a few of the family got involved as well (The Boo and my 14 year old son). I wanted to make sure I gave you a well rounded review!

First off, the wipes are huge, which is definitely a benefit when having to remove the amount of sweat, grime, and stickiness that happens during a summer in the city. I have the added need of having to remove make-up so the more surface area the better. I definitely appreciated it and felt that I could get a really clean face without having to use another (which saves money!!!).

These guys are BIG!

As far as texture, they are soft, yet durable, They can take a decent scrub without feeling rough. My son liked that it was tough yet soft at the same time. I assumed that since they are geared towards men, they would be drying for my skin and wouldn't stand a chance against my eye shadow and matte lip.

My Son giving them a go.

Surprisingly, they took off a good amount of my make up without drying my skin. It didn't work for the waterproof mascara and eye liner though! The boo was actually surprised that his face didn't feel as tight as it usually does, when he washes his face. So yes, #GameFaceWipes do HYDRATE as they claim to do.

So soft and they Hydrate!

Both The Boo and I enjoyed the scent. It kinda reminds you of baby powder but slightly masculine with a whiff of sandalwood or a musk. While it lingers a bit, it isn't annoying in the least bit, really pleasant.

These wipes are great for men and women; they're versatile (they take off make-up without drying and all with one wipe, people) and portable (great for the gym or to stick in your desk for a fresh-up).

I recommend you check them out. Game Face Wipes come in 3 varieties and as Underarm/Body Wipes, so you'll be able to find the one that works for you. Check out their site Game Face Grooming and find them at GNC and Walmart.

Happy Father's Day

Happy Father's Day to all the fathers, dads, pops, and old men out there. We salute you!

Keep being the funny, sarcastic, loving, over-protective, adventurous, and exceptional role models that you are.

To my pops: Thank you for raising a solider, a determined, unapologetic, ambitious, authentic black unicorn. If it wasn't for your intelligence, your love of science and music, and you openness to be apologetically black, I wouldn't be the woman I am. Thank you for the journey we had to take to get to where we are. We are stronger because of it, and I wouldn't change it for anything! ~LB

Vali - Health & Wellness (Sponsored Post)

Last month, I was given the opportunity to review/sample a time-released caffeine supplement by ⇒ Vali,⇐ a health and wellness company that "believes in honesty, transparency, and 3rd party testing of every batch we make."
"This post is sponsored by Vali but the words expressed in the review below are 100% my own. I wouldn't be my honest transparent self, if I didn't give ya'll the 4-1-1".

As a self-proclaimed "Caffeine Addict", these pills are on point. Not only are they vegetarian friendly and non-gmo, but they do not have any added or artificial sugar (scoređź’–).The added bonus for me is that they have less calories and fat than the 2 large coffee drinks I typical consume during a work day. The pills are clear with the visible white power, they are easy to swallow and don't have a weird smell or aftertaste. In fact they smell sort of sweet a little spicy like cinnamon, very pleasant.

I've been taking them for about a month now, initially replacing my morning coffee (large caramel macchiatto) with the pill, and its provided me with at least an extra 3 hrs of energy before I feel a little sluggish (not a full crash, that I usually experience by 2pm) and need that coffee boost (plus I love coffee so I am NOT really about to give it up). The energy is more constant and contained rather than a burst and subsequent fall, so its worth it.

I found they did give me an added boost of energy, which definitely came in handy when I was studying for the LSAT, while balancing work, family, blog (2nd job), and social obligations!  I haven't experienced any side effects or disruptions in sleep.

Overall, I highly recommend them and I mean that, as I don't wholeheartedly agree with the validity of some supplements. However this one has me thinking of considering similar health minded and mostly natural products.

Transparency - What's it really mean?

Source: JJ DiGeronimo

TRANSPARENCY!!!!

In being the Ratchet Professional that I am, I value transparency in all aspects of my life and strive to always be ME, my true self.  I would prefer you be honest than to protect my feelings, and lie; I'd prefer you be upfront of your goals and motives instead of playing sly and being manipulative. I would assume, most of us would like the benefit of the doubt and the right to be given a choice over having our feelings TEMPORARILY spared.

So what exactly is Transparency, and why is it important? The Business Dictionary defines it as:
"the lack of hidden agendas and conditions, accompanied by the availability of full information required for collaboration, cooperation, and collective decision making; or the minimum degree of disclosure to which agreements, dealings, practices, and transactions are open to all for verification."
That's more from the business sense, from the humanistic approach, being transparent is not being pretentious; not fully projecting or putting forth your true self, your true feelings, motives, objectives, thoughts, etc.

Being transparent means being and accepting your authentic self, controlling your ego,  and being honest and trustworthy. Its a sense of freedom in being who you are. Being you with no pretense and no ulterior motives, gives others the opportunity to be fully informed and encourage them to be themselves.

Transparency helps you build trust and respect among those you interact with. It gives you the freedom to do what you're passionate about, with out having to censor yourself. It gives you the opportunity to work on YOU. And we all benefit from a great YOU!
When you’re transparent, you invite trust by revealing that you have nothing to hide. You establish yourself as an honest, credible person in the eyes of others."                       John Hall, Co-founder and CEO of Influence & Co.

✹Side note✹:
I have a hard time believing people who say "I lied to protect your feelings", because the sole purpose of a lie is to reduce your own discomfort in responding to the perceived discomfort of another. In other words, you lie because you don't want to deal with the reaction or the consequences of that reaction, which more times than not are uncomfortable. Lying puts up a wall that prevents communication, trust, and respect building. ~LB.

Start being your authentic self, Fam! Strive for transparency so you can focus on what makes you great.

Be Fearless!!!!

Image: Boruch Akbosh via Youtube

Life is all about facing your fears and moving forward.

Being brave is great and all but what do you really accomplish when you're still afraid of or fear something. Progressing on the journey that is life, requires overcoming obstacles, facing your fears, and jumping on to the next phase.

                                                                       Image: Quotesvalley.com

So how do you become fearless? For one, it's not about being unafraid, its about being strong, confident, and resilient enough to face those fears head on. Its about getting to the root of the fear, understanding where it comes from, and how to dismiss the power it has over you. Here are a few tips on becoming your awesome, confident, fearless self:

  1. Be Confident! Things are easy to accomplish when you believe in yourself. Not as confident as you'd like to be? Work on building your confidence, everyday. Learn a new skill and become familiar; invest in a hobby that you are great at; do an honest self assessment and work on the personal skills and qualities you feel you can improve on.
  2. Learn to let go of other's perception, opinions, and expectations of you. You are in charge of your journey, you decided who YOU are. You are NOT who others expect you to be or perceive you to be. It's hard to focus on overcoming your fear when your worried about disappointing someone for doing what you think is right. DON'T do it! Your confidence really takes a hit when you're trying to please others.
  3. Find a mentor (I've dedicated a whole post to Mentors, they're THAT important!), someone who has overcome similar obstacles, who can offer insight, understanding, and support. Knowing that someone has overcome a similar situation, brings about a sense of relief and helps you be open to the process. Definitely, helps with your confidence.
  4. Do an honest self-assessment/exploration - why do you have this fear? Whats guiding this fear? Is it a real or a perceived fear? Has it happened in the past? Once you know what's really the basis of your fear, you can face it head on. Which leads to....
  5. Don't be afraid of failing; the prize is in the journey. Each failure, each loss, is a lesson learned, and builds confidence, Don't be afraid of the process, Don't be afraid of being uncomfortable, it builds resiliency, it builds the ability to push on, to keep trying.

Whether your fear is of spiders and snakes; of going back to school after a 20 year hiatus; of changing careers while at the peak of your current one; or ending a long term relationship that has been on the outs for a while, fear causes us a lot of pain and anxiety. It can stagnate us and prevent us from moving in the constant ebb and flow that is life. But fear can also be positive, it can force us forward, it can align us along a path we never saw possible but wouldn't change for the world. It's what & how YOU make it!

Face those Fears, Fam!!!

Work/Life Balance - How? When? What?!!

"You'e got to have a work/life balance to succeed.", "Take some time for you, remember "Work/Life Balance"!. I've been hearing the phrase "Work/Life Balance" since I entered Social Work school.... It's a cozy concept, but it's quite hard to pull off, realistically. We all have unbelievable schedules, responsibilities, priorities, habits, and vices that we are wired to and required to (in most cases) meet and support. For some of us, the traditional sense of "work" and "life" often merges and our hobbies become our jobs, and some of us learn that "life" is "work"! In all it takes tremendous time and effort, to navigate it all, resulting our personal needs being ignored.

Well, what exactly is "Work/Life Balance"? According to our friends over at  MacMillian, it is
"the relationship between the amount of time and effort that someone gives to work and the amount that they give to other aspects of life, such as their family".
It took me a long process - through working full-time, attending school full-time, raising kids full-time and BARELY squeezing some me time in there to realize it takes EVERYTHING in my power to keep it going. That meant taking time for ME, more often, to sort of replenish me. Those moments, regardless if it was a trip to the nail salon, a morning spent in bed, or having two date nights with the boo, helped me do what I need to do more efficiently, or with less stress.

As you see the word "balance" doesnt necessary appear in the definition, so it is not iplied that it should be a PERFECT balance. Jim Bird adds:
"Work-Life Balance does not mean an equal balance. There is no perfect, one-size fits all, balance you should be striving for. The best work-life balance is different for each of us because we all have different priorities and different lives."

There you have it, "Work/Life Balance" is how you divide or choose to spend your time doing the things that are important to you.  There is no right or wrong way. It's all YOUR choice!

What are some of your ME time moments? How do you refresh, replenish, and renew? Do you strive for Work/Life Balance?

#RandomThoughts - Relationships

Relationships are Work! And Half of us call out daily! ~LB

video

But at the end of the day, YOU and only YOU are responsible for how you treat your relationship, how much effort you put in to it.

Successful relationships are contingent on a number of qualities:

  1. Compromise - something many of us have no IDEA about.
  2. Communication - better yet - Clear & Honest Communication
  3. Trust
  4. Respect

We're selfish, egotistical, arrogant humans. Some of us "Ain't Shyt" (FRFR, we all know a few!), many of us are broken due to past relationships (this is not limited to just romantic...it could be the dysfunctional relationship between you and your parent, etc.), and some of us just don't want to be single. Most of us have been cheated on, have cheated, have been manipulated, have manipulated others, the list goes on. We've blamed ourselves, blamed others, or just totally ignored the evident black unicorn in the room. With compromise and communication - ALLADAT means nothing!
